Florida State needed to bolster their defensive end options for the 2025 class after four-star Javion Hilson’s decommitment, and they’re actively working to do so. After extending an offer to a standout prospect from Texas yesterday, the Seminoles offered another to a current ACC defensive end commit today.

Highland Home (Ala.) four-star edge rusher CJ May announced on Thursday night that he received an offer from FSU, tagging defensive ends coach John Papuchis and head coach Mike Norvell in his tweet.

May, standing 6-foot-4 and weighing 225 pounds, has been committed to Louisville since July, choosing the Cardinals over Syracuse, Auburn, and Washington during the summer.

FSU initially mentioned May as a possible target when expanding its defensive end board, and they’re impressed with his senior season film. Last year, he recorded 54 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks, 1 interception (returned for a touchdown), 2 forced fumbles, and 2 fumble recoveries. He also contributed on offense with 2 catches for 66 yards and 1 touchdown.

FSU is now trying to see if they have a shot at flipping May from Louisville late in the recruiting process.

May is a versatile pass rusher capable of playing both on and off the ball, showing potential to become a productive edge player at the collegiate level. While he has slight hip stiffness when rushing the passer, he demonstrates good bend around the edge and is effective in getting to the quarterback. He is more smooth and sudden than explosively quick but shows strength and the ability to move blockers off the line. His play speed in space is solid, though his pass rush consistency could improve. May plays with physicality and strength, particularly in block destruction, and has the tools to develop into a solid multi-year starter at the Power Five level.
