Breaking: Five-star OT Confirm Commits To Alabama over LSU, Missouri, Ohio State, Nebraska, Oregon and Georgia

He led his Nixa (Mo.) team onto the field Friday night against a state-ranked opponent, Joplin (Mo.), in a matchup that would reveal the strength of both teams. The five-star offensive tackle, ranked by 247Sports as the No. 4 overall prospect, the top offensive tackle, and the best player in Missouri for the class of 2026, was key in Nixa’s nearly 400 yards of total offense during their dominant 49-0 victory.

However, Cantwell’s performance didn’t begin as he had hoped. After a shaky first quarter, he refocused and started playing like a true five-star talent.

“Honestly, I didn’t start the game the way I wanted,” Cantwell admitted. “I wasn’t as focused as I should’ve been, and that’s on me. Nobody’s perfect, and if I played perfectly every game, I’d already be in college.

“After the first quarter, I told myself to snap out of it and concentrate. I told myself to just focus, and then I started playing really good football—driving my feet through blocks and finishing off plays.”

In terms of recruiting, Cantwell is in a great position with 30 offers and regular communication with college coaches. Though it can feel overwhelming, he remains grateful for the opportunity.

“Calling it crazy would be an understatement,” he said. “It’s tough, but I’m willing to take on the challenge because I know not many people get this chance. I feel blessed to be where I am today.

“About two years ago, I went on a visit to Kansas State after playing just two varsity games, and I never expected it to turn into this. It feels surreal now. Not many 16-year-olds are in this position, and I’m incredibly fortunate to be here.”
