BREAKING: LSU Makes Major Jayden Daniels Announcement in Week 4
The LSU Tigers are set to welcome back a familiar face in Baton Rouge for their Week 4 matchup against the UCLA Bruins on Saturday. Former star quarterback Jayden Daniels will be honored during a special Heisman Trophy presentation, officially awarding college football’s top individual honor to LSU. The Heisman not only recognizes the nation’s best player but also brings prestige to the university he represents.
Daniels was selected as the No. 2 overall pick by the Washington Commanders in this year’s NFL Draft after an outstanding senior season at LSU. Although his time as a Tiger was brief, his impressive skillset and eye-popping statistics will be remembered for years to come. A former four-star recruit from San Bernardino, California, Daniels initially spent three seasons at Arizona State before transferring to LSU. In his first year with the Tigers, he threw for 2,913 yards and 17 touchdowns while adding 885 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns on the ground.
Those numbers set the stage for an even more remarkable 2023 season, where Daniels led LSU to the SEC Championship Game. He amassed 3,812 passing yards, 1,134 rushing yards, and accounted for 50 total touchdowns. Daniels joined Johnny Manziel as the only players in SEC history to throw for 3,500 yards and rush for 1,000 yards in a single season. He went on to win the 2023 Heisman Trophy, beating out Michael Penix Jr. (Washington), Bo Nix (Oregon), and Marvin Harrison Jr. (Ohio State).
