Another week, another victory for the Green Bay Packers with Malik Willis leading the charge at quarterback. Willis and the Packers secured their second consecutive win of the season by defeating the Tennessee Titans in Nashville on Sunday, 30-14.

When Jordan Love suffered a knee injury in Week 1, there were serious doubts about Willis’ ability to manage the starting role in his absence. However, after two games, the confidence in the Packers’ new quarterback continues to rise.’

Packers head coach Matt LaFleur expressed his amazement at how Malik Willis has handled the pressure and challenges on the field. LaFleur also commended the team for rallying behind the 25-year-old quarterback.

 

“What he’s been able to do, I’ve never seen anything like it,” LaFleur said of Willis, according to the Associated Press (via ESPN). “Hats off to him and to everyone around him. The guys have really rallied and supported him.”

In the game against his former team, Willis threw for 202 yards and a touchdown, completing 13 of 19 passes. He also led the Packers with 73 rushing yards and a touchdown on six carries.

With Jordan Love nearing a return, Willis might shift back to the backup role in Week 4 against the Minnesota Vikings. Regardless, Willis has earned the recognition he’s been receiving. So far in the 2024 NFL season, Willis has accumulated 324 passing yards, two touchdowns, and no interceptions, completing 73.5% of his passes. He’s also rushed for 114 yards on 12 carries.
