Report: Coach of the Week for the Bear Bryant Awards

Tennessee football head coach Josh Heupel has been named the Bear Bryant Awards Coach of the Week after leading the No. 5 Volunteers to a 25-15 victory over then-No. 15 Oklahoma. This marks Tennessee’s second 4-0 start under Heupel.

The win against his alma mater was Heupel’s 10th ranked victory with Tennessee, improving his overall record to 31-12 (.721) in his four seasons at the helm. Tennessee is one of only two teams in the nation with two wins over opponents ranked in the AP Top 25 at the time of the game.

Heupel, a two-time National Coach of the Year finalist, holds a career record of 59-20 (.747) in seven seasons as a head coach. The Bear Bryant Coach of the Year Awards, presented by the American Heart Association, recognizes coaching excellence while honoring Coach Bryant’s legacy and raising awareness for heart health.
