JUST IN: Another 6-foot four star Guard Confirms Commitment to Tar Heels
On Friday, the 6-foot-3, 190-pound combo guard from Washington, DC announced his commitment to head coach Hubert Davis and the UNC basketball program. The four-star prospect is the first player from the Class of 2025 to join the Tar Heels.
North Carolina is known to be targeting multiple guards in this recruiting cycle, and Dixon’s commitment marks a strong start. Ranked as a top-50 player in the Class of 2025 by 247Sports Composite, Dixon’s versatility and skillset are expected to be a great fit for Davis’ system.
Following his recent official visit to Chapel Hill, momentum was clearly building toward his commitment. The decision became even more likely when Dixon canceled a planned visit to Arizona, indicating he found what he was looking for at North Carolina.

Adding to the excitement, two Crystal Ball predictions were made in favor of the Tar Heels earlier this week leading up to Derek Dixon’s commitment, with 247Sports’ Ross Martin expressing high confidence, ranking his prediction at a 9.
While this is a great start for Hubert Davis and his staff, there’s still plenty of recruiting work ahead. Fellow guard Isaiah Dennis is set for his official visit to Chapel Hill this weekend, and Acaden Lewis is expected on campus on October 2, though his visit might be affected by Dixon’s commitment, making it something to watch.
The Tar Heels are hoping that Dixon’s decision will spark a wave of top-tier players choosing UNC, as they aim to bring in a class of three or even four players to build the program’s future roster.
