Following Colt McCoy’s exit from the Texas Longhorns in 2010, the team spent nearly a decade searching for a quarterback to restore its national prominence. In his second year as head coach, Steve Sarkisian secured the commitment of Quinn Ewers, a former five-star recruit and Ohio State transfer. Although Ewers faced challenges in his first season, he guided Texas to a Big 12 Championship and a spot in the College Football Playoff in 2023. Additionally, the Longhorns welcomed five-star recruit Arch Manning as Ewers’ successor in the 2023 class. Demonstrating his prowess in recruiting elite quarterbacks, Sarkisian has also secured a commitment from five-star quarterback Dia Bell for the 2026 class. The son of former NBA player Raja Bell, Dia is already making his mark and recently announced his participation in the 2025 Under Armour All-America Game.

The game showcases over 100 of the top players in the class, providing a platform for athletes to compete against elite competition. Dia Bell is on track for a standout season at American Heritage in Plantation, Florida, as he is only 272 yards away from surpassing his total passing yards from the previous season, despite having played just six games. He has already thrown 20 touchdowns this year, matching the total he achieved in 12 games last season. This promising performance contributes to the belief that Texas has one of the best quarterback rooms in the country.
