Bruins GM Don Sweeney confirms major decision after Jeremy Swayman’s $66 million deal
The Boston Bruins, after locking in Jeremy Swayman with a major eight-year, $66 million deal, made several roster cuts to stay under the salary cap before the season opener against the Florida Panthers. On Sunday, Bruins GM Don Sweeney placed five players on waivers, including forwards Patrick Brown and Jeffrey Viel, defenseman Billy Sweezey, and goaltenders Brandon Bussi and Jiri Patera, to free up cap space. In addition to those moves, the Bruins reassigned nine players to their AHL affiliate, the Providence Bruins. The demoted players include Ryan Bischel, Michael Callahan, Riley Duran, Jackson Edward, Brett Harrison, Kasimir Kaskisuo, Fabian Lysell, Georgii Merkulov, and Jaxon Nelson.
