BREAKING: Dodgers’ Confirms More Bad News After NLDS Game 3 Loss
Dodgers Infielder has been trying to push through a torn adductor muscle, but it became evident in Game 3 of the National League Division Series against the Padres at Petco Park that it was affecting his performance. The Dodgers’ shortstop had to leave the game in the third inning on Tuesday night.
His injury became apparent in the second inning when he attempted to turn a groundball double play. He ran to second base but was unable to complete the play, resulting in no outs. Then, in the third inning, while running to third base on a single that loaded the bases, he felt something worsen and was immediately removed from the game under the supervision of trainer Thomas Albert. Andy Pages took over as a pinch runner for Rojas and remained in the game, playing center field, while Tommy Edman shifted from center to shortstop.
Despite leg issues that plagued him during the second half of the season, Rojas had an impressive year both offensively and defensively. After aggravating his injury in the final week of the regular season, an MRI revealed a torn adductor muscle. He received treatment and rested for about ten days before starting each of the first three NLDS games.
“The time off definitely helped me get as ready as I could be,” Rojas said Sunday at Dodger Stadium. “But it will be a battle to maintain that throughout the postseason, as our goal is to keep playing for the next three weeks.”
Rojas singled in the third inning and has two hits in eight at-bats in the series. An update on his status for the rest of the series is awaited.
