Don’t worry, your starting quarterback intends to remain such. After rumours circulated on Monday afternoon and into the early evening that Quinn Ewers will sit out the balance of the season to prepare for the NFL Draft, the Texas quarterback responded.

247Sports appeared to get a jump on the breaking news, publishing a graphic on Instagram around 5 p.m. CT on Monday with the caption “BREAKING NEWS: Texas QB Quinn Ewers will sit out the rest of the season to prepare for the NFL Draft.”

The post was promptly erased, but not before it had been seen by many individuals and the information spread swiftly. People were discussing it all across the country, including the seemingly apparent succession plan: Arch Manning.

However, rumours were swiftly dispelled when ESPN’s Pete Thamel posted on X (Twitter) that sources close to Ewers had called out to confirm that the information was untrue and that the sports media account had most likely been hacked.

Just moments later, Chip Brown, a Texas Longhorn insider for 247Sports, announced on Reddit that the company’s account had been hacked.

Conversations regarding the Texas quarterback room have been constant this season, especially after Ewers’ injury and Manning’s success as the Longhorns’ QB1. However, head coach Steve Sarkisian has frequently stated that Ewers is his go-to player and will stay in that position for as long as feasible.

In Week 9, Texas will face Vanderbilt, who are currently on a hot streak. The Longhorns and the ‘Dores will face off at 3:15 p.m. CT on Saturday, October 26.
