BREAKING: Steve Sarkisian sends clear message on Quinn Ewers performance after Vanderbilt
The Texas football team approached their game against the Vanderbilt Commodores with a unique zeal. The Longhorns suffered their first setback of the 2024 season to Georgia on October 19, and they intended to avenge it with a victory over the Commodores. Texas achieved just that, and Steve Sarkisian provided an insightful evaluation of Quinn Ewers’ performance on Saturday.
Ewers bounces back in Texas’ win
One week before facing Vanderbilt, Quinn Ewers struggled in Texas’ 30-15 loss to Georgia, starting slowly and finishing with 211 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception. During that game, Texas brought in Arch Manning to boost the offense. However, in Texas’ recent 27-24 victory over Vanderbilt, head coach Steve Sarkisian saw a change in Ewers’ performance.
“[Ewers] played really well. He was efficient, got the ball to our playmakers when we needed it,” Sarkisian shared on SEC Network, as reported by Brian Davis.
Ewers threw three interceptions but still managed 288 yards and three touchdowns, stepping up at critical moments to lead Texas to the win. Despite Vanderbilt’s lower ranking, the Longhorns respected them due to their earlier upset over Alabama. Ewers was not the only player instrumental in Texas’ victory, but his efforts were crucial to the outcome.
