EXCLUSIVE: Colts Coach Issues Stern 3-Word Warning to Anthony Richardson
The Indianapolis Colts endured a tough 23-20 loss to the Houston Texans in Week 8, compounded by a challenging performance from second-year quarterback Anthony Richardson. Fans expressed frustration as Richardson completed only 10 of his 32 pass attempts for 175 yards with a touchdown, while also throwing an interception and losing a fumble.
On the ground, he contributed 45 yards on six carries. At one point, Richardson subbed himself out of a play due to fatigue, further stirring fan discontent. Following this latest defeat, head coach Shane Steichen declined to commit to Richardson as the Colts’ starter for Week 9.
Richardson, who showed glimpses of his potential in a brief four-game appearance last season, has struggled to maintain that momentum. So far in 2024, he’s completed just 44.4 percent of his passes for 958 yards and four touchdowns, adding 242 yards and a touchdown on the ground.
But his seven interceptions and six fumbles over six starts have hindered the Colts’ offense. With playoff hopes still alive and Joe Flacco waiting on the bench, the Colts could consider starting the veteran in place of Richardson to steady their playoff push.
