Aaron Judge and the New York Yankees are still in the hunt for the 2024 World Series title. Thanks to a stellar performance from the lower part of their lineup, the Bronx Bombers secured an 11-4 victory Tuesday night at Yankee Stadium, extending the series against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Anthony Volpe, Austin Wells, and Alex Verdugo made significant contributions, while leadoff hitter Gleyber Torres provided a crucial spark at the top.

David Ortiz thinks Aaron Judge may finally found his groove

Aaron Judge may finally be finding his stride in the 2024 postseason, according to former Red Sox star David Ortiz. Judge, who’s faced mounting pressure amid a difficult playoff run, showed promising signs of improvement during the Yankees’ 11-4 victory over the Dodgers.

Ortiz commented on Judge’s pivotal eighth-inning at-bat, saying, “This game sometimes works in mysterious ways that are hard to understand… That last at-bat from Judge, look out. The guy showed the best balance he’s shown in four games, and sometimes that’s all you need to boost your confidence. That’s going to put the team in a better spot tomorrow.”

In that at-bat, Judge followed a Juan Soto double with a sharply hit single to left field, bringing Soto home for the Yankees’ 11th run. Judge’s struggles at the plate have been a key storyline this postseason, as he entered Game 4 against the Dodgers with a .133 batting average and .278 OBP. Tuesday’s performance, where he went 1-for-3 with a walk, raised those numbers to .152 and .305.

During the 2024 regular season, Judge was dominant, batting .322/.458/.701 with 58 homers and 144 RBIs. Now, with the Yankees set for Game 5 at Yankee Stadium, they hope Judge’s recent hit signals a turnaround for the former MVP. Gerrit Cole will take the mound for New York, while Jack Flaherty will start for Los Angeles, as the Yankees look to continue their push for the championship.
