Report: Buffalo Bills Veteran Wants Traded From Team
The Buffalo Bills showed their intent to strengthen their roster before the trade deadline, acquiring wide receiver Amari Cooper in exchange for draft picks. They made this move after their Week 6 victory over the New York Jets, securing their lead in the AFC East with a 6-2 record and providing quarterback Josh Allen with a top-tier WR1 to boost their playoff prospects. However, one veteran on the Bills reportedly values playing time over a championship chase.
According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, safety Mike Edwards has requested a trade to a team where he would see more action. Fowler noted, “Veteran Buffalo safety Mike Edwards is available and would like to go somewhere he can play (he has been a steady inactive).” Edwards, who already holds Super Bowl rings from his time with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Super Bowl 55) and Kansas City Chiefs (Super Bowl 58), signed a one-year, $2.8 million deal with the Bills in March, per Spotrac.
Drafted in the third round by the Buccaneers, the 28-year-old has played in 78 games with 26 starts, recording 236 tackles, 3 sacks, 26 passes defended, and eight interceptions in his career. This season, however, he’s only appeared in three of Buffalo’s eight games, with limited playtime of seven defensive snaps and 13 on special teams.
