EXCLUSIVE REPORT: Bills to make one last trade for DT ahead of trade deadline
The NFL trade deadline is here, and by 4 PM EST, all 32 teams will be locked in with their current rosters as they enter the second half of the season. Buffalo Bills fans know well that general manager Brandon Beane is always on the lookout for ways to bolster the team.
With the Bills at 7-2 and leading the AFC East, another roster move by Beane wouldn’t come as a shock. He’s already added wide receiver Amari Cooper in a trade with the Cleveland Browns, and Cooper made an immediate impact with a standout debut in Week 7.
Beane pulled off a successful trade at last year’s deadline as well, acquiring cornerback Rasul Douglas from the Green Bay Packers. Douglas has been a steady presence in Buffalo’s secondary, effectively stepping up as the top corner in place of Tre’Davious White.
As today’s trade deadline looms, moves are likely across the league, and the Bills may be among those looking to reinforce their lineup. According to Bleacher Report’s NFL Scouting Department, including analyst Alex Ballentine, the Bills could benefit from targeting additional defensive help.
Buffalo Bills suggested to trade for DT Sebastian Joseph-Day from Tennessee Titans
The article points out that the Bills are allowing nearly 5 yards per carry on the ground, suggesting that a trade for defensive line support would be a strategic move. Bolstering the defensive front could help Buffalo improve their run defense, addressing a key vulnerability as they head into the second half of the season and look to maintain their lead in the AFC East.
“Sebastian Joseph-Day could be a valuable addition to help strengthen the Bills’ run defense and reduce the yards they’re giving up on the ground. The Tennessee Titans, who are in rebuild mode, have already moved players like DeAndre Hopkins and Ernest Jones IV, so trading a veteran interior defender like Joseph-Day wouldn’t be far-fetched. Adding him would not only help the Bills plug up the middle but also provide the Titans with draft capital to support their ongoing roster overhaul.”
Run defense has been a notable weakness for the Bills this season, as they’ve allowed 120+ rushing yards in five of their nine games, including a staggering 271 yards against the Ravens. While their defensive line is strong in pressuring the quarterback, they clearly need more support in stopping the run.
Adding Sebastian Joseph-Day could provide just that, especially with recent injuries thinning their defensive line. With DeWayne Carter and Duwuane Smoot now both on IR, per Thad Brown, Joseph-Day would bring needed depth and run-stopping ability to a unit in need of reinforcement.
