REPORT: Jordan Phillips Issues Bills Retirement Prediction
At 32 years old, Jordan Phillips is aware he’s nearing the end of his NFL career. A former second-round pick out of Oklahoma, Phillips has moved around the league over the years. Drafted by the Miami Dolphins, he spent four seasons there before joining the Buffalo Bills for two seasons, followed by a stint with the Arizona Cardinals from 2020-2021. He returned to Buffalo for the 2022-23 seasons, and after a brief release by the Cowboys this season, he’s giving his career one last shot by rejoining the Bills for a third time.
“I just want to give them enough to stick,” Phillips said after re-signing. “Finish my career here. That’s it, so whatever I’ve got to do to do that. Be here for the tenure, that’s what I’m going to try to do.”
Phillips has a strong connection with the Bills, as both he and the franchise aim to end their respective championship droughts. While the Bills already have solid starters at defensive tackle, Phillips brings unique skills that could prove valuable in the season’s critical stretch, a return even quarterback Josh Allen appreciates.
“Big bodies, number one,” Allen noted. “The familiarity with what we’ve got going on here in Buffalo and the type of men in this locker room. They’ve been playing really good football.”
Phillips’ comeback with Buffalo offers him one last opportunity to prove he can contribute to a championship-caliber roster. Whether or not he can fulfill that role remains to be seen.
