The timing of this news couldn’t be worse. As many know, recruiting never takes a break, not even for a moment. Unfortunately for Alabama and head coach Kalen DeBoer, this could be problematic, as a top commit might be on the verge of flipping.

Since July, 5-star wide receiver Caleb Cunningham has been verbally committed to Alabama, exciting Crimson Tide fans with his potential. However, Cunningham was in Oxford on Saturday to watch Ole Miss defeat Georgia in impressive fashion.

This marks his second visit to Ole Miss in just three weeks. Shortly after the Rebels’ win over Kirby Smart’s squad, recruiting analysts Chad Simmons and Steve Wiltfong both predicted that Cunningham is likely to flip his commitment from Alabama to Ole Miss. This is certainly troubling news for DeBoer and his team.

5-star WR Caleb Cunningham is expected to flip from Alabama to Ole Miss

Cunningham, a 6-foot-1, 190-pound receiver from Mississippi, has drawn intense recruiting efforts from Lane Kiffin, who appears close to keeping the talented speedster in-state. Cunningham is one of the top wide receivers in the nation, making him a sought-after prospect.

Over the course of his recruitment, he’s received offers from major programs, including Alabama, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Florida, Auburn, Arkansas, and Georgia. His official visits included Alabama, Tennessee, Florida, and Auburn.

Currently one of Alabama’s five 5-star commits, Cunningham’s place on their commitment list may not last much longer. With Ole Miss recently securing a huge win over Georgia, Kiffin’s recruiting outlook is even brighter, though it seems this success may come at Alabama’s expense.
