BREAKING: Five-Star Quarterback Bryce Underwood Trolls Michigan With Cryptic Post To Rebuff $10 Million In NIL Money
Bryce Underwood, a five-star quarterback committed to LSU, is being pursued by Michigan with a historic NIL offer exceeding $10 million. However, it seems that Underwood isn’t as swayed by the money as Michigan hopes. He hinted at his commitment on Instagram with a cryptic post, which was quickly deleted.
A Michigan native, Underwood grew up about 30 minutes from Ann Arbor, and his high school assistant coach is Connor Stalions (yes, the same Connor Stalions). The Champions Circle collective is also preparing an offer worth over $2.5 million per year for four years, despite Underwood not turning 18 until August.
The issue with Michigan’s strategy is that Underwood’s primary focus isn’t on immediate financial gain. He committed to LSU back in January, largely due to the influence of offensive coordinator Joe Sloan. Underwood is focused on developing his skills, winning a national championship, earning a Heisman Trophy, and eventually being drafted No. 1 overall in the NFL. He believes the potential financial rewards in the NFL far outweigh what college can offer right now.
Meanwhile, LSU is reportedly offering around $5 million, so Underwood certainly won’t be short on money if he decides to stick with the Tigers. It also doesn’t seem likely that he’ll be swayed by Michigan’s offer, as he remains focused on his long-term goals rather than immediate financial gains.
Is Bryce Underwood serious or is he trolling?
After reports about Michigan’s $10 million NIL offer surfaced, Bryce Underwood posted a taunting message on his Instagram story aimed at Sherrone Moore and his staff, followed by a definitive statement, which was deleted after a few hours. This post seems to strongly suggest that Underwood’s decision is already made, but Michigan is holding onto hope. They appear to be disregarding the message, believing there’s no truth to it.
Josh Henschke of Rivals.com recently shared that the cryptic Instagram post from Bryce Underwood was likely an intentional troll, rather than a definitive indication of his decision. Henschke emphasized that while Michigan hasn’t received any formal rejection from Underwood yet, it doesn’t mean much at this stage. LSU still appears to be the strong favorite, but the lack of an official “no” leaves the door slightly open, even if Michigan’s hopes are dwindling. To be clear, Henschke stated he’s just reporting what he’s hearing without trying to manufacture false hope for the Wolverines.
As with most high-profile recruitments, there’s a lot of speculation coming from both sides. LSU is confident in the commitment they secured 11 months ago, and Underwood’s recent posts seem to reinforce their belief that he’s staying put. Moreover, he visited Baton Rouge just this past weekend, while he hasn’t been to Ann Arbor in years, despite it being so close.
That said, Michigan isn’t giving up just yet. The Wolverines are still optimistic because Underwood hasn’t officially turned down their offer. They’ll continue to push for a flip right up until the signing deadline. Underwood could finalize his decision during the Early Signing Period or wait until National Signing Day in February.
