RALEIGH, N.C. — NC State men’s basketball officially announced the signings of two four-star prospects in RJ Greer and Zymicah Wilkins on Thursday afternoon. The two signees join the 2025 class that will undoubtedly have more additions through either the high school ranks or transfer portal in the coming months. Greer is a 6-foot-4, 170-pound shooting guard who currently ranks as the No. 108 player in the country and No. 2 player in Ohio, according to the 247Sports rankings.

4-Star Shooting Guard RJ Greer is Taking an Official Visit to NC State in Early June - Pack Insider

“I’m excited to have RJ join our program,” Keatts said. “He’s a wonderful young man that comes from a great family and he’s going to be a great addition to our locker room. He’s a high-IQ player. You can tell he’s a coach’s son. He can score the ball on all three levels, but is definitely a high-level shooter right now. “He’s a winner, he won a state championship last season and I always like a player that has a winning pedigree. I think he’s a great fit for our system.”. On the official visit, Keatts explained his vision for Greer. That included him having a serious shot at garnering playing time as a freshman. Keatts provided examples of former guards who succeeded in his system. “Coach said he’s known for playing freshman and that he’s going to allow me to go out there and compete,” he said. “He didn’t promise me anything but he did say there’s going to be an opportunity to go out there and compete.”. “We talked about guys like DJ Horne and Terquavion Smith,” Greer added. “They were scoring guards they had in the past and he showed me how much they shot the ball and how much he lets his guards go.”. Meanwhile, Wilkins is another Top-100 player in the 247Sports Composite Rankings who comes in at No. 74 overall and No. 3 in North Carolina. The 6-foot-8, 215-pound center out of Arden (N.C.) Christ School is a massive addition for the Pack for more than one reason. “We are thrilled to have Zymicah joining us,” Keatts said. “I think he has a very high ceiling for what he can become as a basketball player.

COMMIT ALERT: NC State Lands 4-Star Forward Zymicah Wilkins | Inside Pack Sports

He can play with power down low, but there is also finesse to his game and he has the ability to step out and play away from the basket. Like RJ, he’s a state champion and I love to add players to our program that have a winning background. “Mikey is a great young man and a wonderful addition to our locker room.”. Wilkins doesn’t want to wait long to make his impact, though. With a clear need at the center position after next year with both Brandon Huntley-Hatfield and Ben Middlebrooks playing their final years of eligibility in 2024-25, Wilkins said the opportunity to play in the ACC and potentially right away sold him on the program. “I feel like I have a chance to come in and immediately contribute,” Wilkins said. “I love coach Keatts’ system and what he can do for my game. And with NC State being in the ACC, I feel like it has the best talent. I want to play against the best players and go out there and prove to the country why I’m one of the best players.”.
