Georgia football is making significant strides as the 2025 recruiting cycle nears its conclusion. During their 31-17 victory over Tennessee, the Bulldogs hosted numerous elite prospects, including several five-star and blue-chip recruits who are strongly considering Georgia.

Among them was Julian Lewis, a five-star quarterback and one of the nation’s top prospects. Formerly committed to USC, Lewis announced his de-commitment on Sunday, signaling a new chapter in his recruitment. His decision, confirmed by Hayes Fawcett of On3, places Georgia in an excellent position to secure the talented quarterback, especially given his recent visit to Athens.

5-star QB Julian Lewis is back on the market

According to the 247Sports composite rankings, Lewis is the No. 31 overall player in the country. He also is the No. 5 QB in the 2025 class as well as the No. 6 player from his home state of Georgia.

Lewis had been committed to USC since August of last year, but recently rumors have been swirling that he was showing interest in other schools. The first school who he was interested in was Colorado, and that appears to be Georgia’s biggest competition right now. Lewis has recently visited Colorado, and even holds three crystal ball predictions on 247Sports to win this recruitment.

One of those predictions was actually placed on Sunday, so it appears Colorado is still the favorite as of today.

But Kirby Smart and Georgia still have a chance. There’s a reason he came to Georgia for a visit on Saturday, because he has a lot of interest in the program. He also is from Georgia as well, so it’d be silly to count the Bulldogs out already. But it looks like Georgia is in second place for now, but crazier things have happened in recruiting before. So don’t count Smart and Georgia out of this recruitment until it’s officially over.
