BREAKING: 5-Star DT Flips From Florida Gators To Texas Longhorns
Ahead of their game against the Kentucky Wildcats, the Texas Longhorns secured a significant victory.
On3 recruiting insider Chad Simmons reported that the Longhorns received a commitment from four-star interior defensive lineman Joseph Mbatchou from Grayson High School in Loganville, GA. Mbatchou, who had been previously committed to the Florida Gators, switched his commitment just before Texas kicked off.
“Florida was close, but with Texas, it’s the people that make it special,” Mbatchou shared with Simmons. “I fully trust Coach Sark (Steve Sarkisian), Coach Kenny Baker, and the rest of the staff. I believe they have my best interest at heart.”
A consensus four-star recruit, Mbatchou is ranked as the No. 257 player nationally, the No. 31 defensive tackle, and the No. 36 player in Georgia, according to the On3 Industry Ranking.
Mbatchou had been a top target for Texas, with defensive line coach Kenny Baker focusing on him for the past few months. With this commitment, Mbatchou joins Myron Charles and Josiah Sharma as the third interior defensive lineman to commit to the Longhorns in the 2025 class, both of whom also flipped their commitments to Texas.
