BREAKING: Patrick Mahomes fined for unsportsmanlike conduct after touchdown celebration in Chiefs-Bills game

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes kept his composure during his team’s fourth-quarter touchdown against the Buffalo Bills in Week 11, but his celebratory gesture still resulted in a $14,096 fine.

With just over 12 minutes left in the game and the Chiefs trailing 23-14, Mahomes connected with Noah Gray in the back corner of the end zone to bring the score within three points. However, Mahomes’ celebration—a pair of “finger guns”—drew attention. According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the league deemed the action a “violent gesture” and penalized Mahomes under its unsportsmanlike conduct policy.

This marks the second time Mahomes has been fined in his career. His first offense came in December 2023, also during a loss to the Bills, when he was fined $50,000 for “verbally abusing” officials after a controversial call.

The Chiefs’ 31-20 loss to Buffalo ended their undefeated streak, which had lasted since December 2023. Despite the setback, Kansas City remains a strong contender and is favored in their Week 12 matchup against the Carolina Panthers. The game kicks off on Nov. 24 at 12 p.m. CST and will be broadcast locally on CBS.
