BREAKING: 5-Star DT Commits to Texas Longhorns Over Georgia Bulldogs
The Texas Longhorns capped off their 2025 recruiting class with a huge victory, securing a commitment from five-star defensive tackle. After dominating the 2025 cycle, Texas held the nation’s top-ranked recruiting class following Early Signing Day on Wednesday.
Ahead of their SEC Championship Game against Georgia, the Longhorns aimed to maintain that top spot—and they achieved just that. On Friday, Manchester (GA) standout Justus Terry officially committed to Texas, solidifying their No. 1 ranking.
Terry, a 6-foot-5, 275-pound defensive lineman, chose the Longhorns over Georgia, Auburn, and Alabama after Texas made a strong late push in his recruitment. Ranked as a consensus five-star prospect, Terry is the No. 9 overall player, No. 2 defensive tackle, and No. 2 player in Georgia according to 247 Sports.
During his sophomore and junior seasons, Terry recorded impressive stats, including 116 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, 17 sacks, three pass breakups, two forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries, and an interception. He joins a stellar defensive line class for the Longhorns, which includes four-star tackles Josiah Sharma and Myron Charles, four-star edge rusher Smith Orogbo, and five-star edge rusher Lance Jackson.
Earlier this week, Terry hinted at his decision by announcing on social media that his recruitment was closed and he would reveal his choice on Friday. “My recruitment is now SHUT DOWN! I will be making my decision on Friday, Dec 6th,” he shared on X.
This development was a major win for Texas, as they fended off Terry’s home-state Georgia Bulldogs to secure one of the top prospects in the 2025 class.
