Fans Stunned as Eagles’ $255 Million QB Drops Jaw-Dropping Injury Update
Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts revealed he’s been playing with a broken finger on his left, non-throwing hand. He sustained the injury during the Eagles’ Week 14 win over the Carolina Panthers, where he threw for 108 yards, two touchdowns, and rushed for 59 yards and another score. Despite the setback, Hurts delivered a stellar performance in Week 15 against the Pittsburgh Steelers, completing 25 of 32 passes for 290 yards, two touchdowns, and adding 45 rushing yards with a rushing touchdown in the Eagles’ 27-13 victory.
Hurts acknowledged the injury has affected his play but downplayed its severity. “It’s broken, and it did impact my play,” he told The Associated Press. “I’ve known it’s been like this all week, but I don’t want to make too much of it. If it’s shattered, it’s shattered. It is what it is.”
The win marked the Eagles’ 10th straight victory, securing a 12-2 record and clinching a spot in the NFC playoffs. Hurts’ passing total against the Panthers was his lowest since the 2023 regular-season finale against the New York Giants, where a finger injury also limited him to just 55 passing yards before he sat out the second half.
Eagles’ Passing Game Under Fire Within Locker Room
Jalen Hurts faced one of the most challenging weeks of his professional career amid the Eagles’ winning streak. After the Week 14 win over the Carolina Panthers, star wide receivers DeVonta Smith and A.J. Brown publicly expressed frustration with the passing game, sparking a media frenzy. The situation escalated to the point where all three players had to address the media repeatedly, and veteran linebacker Brandon Graham even issued an apology after weighing in on the controversy.
Despite the tension, Hurts, Brown, and Smith delivered standout performances in the Eagles’ Week 15 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers. Brown hauled in eight receptions for 110 yards and a touchdown, while Smith caught 11 passes for 109 yards and a score. Following Brown’s touchdown, he and Hurts celebrated with a lighthearted attempt at the iconic Kid ‘n Play dance from the 1990 movie House Party, showcasing unity after a turbulent week.
Hurts One of NFL’s Most Durable Quarterbacks
Jalen Hurts has shown remarkable durability throughout his college and NFL career. Since becoming the Eagles’ full-time starter in 2021, he has missed only four games — two in 2021 due to a high ankle sprain and two in 2022 because of a shoulder injury. He played all 17 regular-season games in 2023.
If Hurts were to miss time, the Eagles have former first-round pick Kenny Pickett as his backup. Philadelphia acquired Pickett from the Pittsburgh Steelers in a March 2024 trade, sending two 2025 seventh-round picks and a 2024 third-round pick to Pittsburgh in exchange for Pickett and a 2024 fourth-round pick.
