BREAKING: Auburn Tigers confirms 6-foot-4, 325 recruit over Texas A&M, WKU DL
Auburn has made its first defensive line acquisition through the transfer portal following the departure of two defensive linemen.
As reported by Pete Nakos of On3, former Texas A&M and Western Kentucky defensive lineman has joined the Tigers. Walker began his college career at Texas A&M, playing in two games and recording three tackles and one pass deflection. He later transferred to Western Kentucky, where he appeared in 22 games over two seasons, tallying 54 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, an interception, a pass deflection, and a forced fumble.
On3’s transfer portal Industry Rankings lists Walker as a three-star transfer, ranked No. 721 overall and No. 67 among defensive linemen in the portal. As a high school recruit, the 6-foot-4, 325-pound Nashville native was also a three-star prospect, ranked No. 513 nationally and No. 57 among defensive linemen. He received offers from seven SEC schools, plus Oklahoma, which had not yet joined the SEC at the time.
Walker becomes Auburn’s ninth addition via the portal this cycle, compared to 13 departures. On3 currently ranks Auburn’s transfer portal class No. 6 nationally and No. 2 in the SEC, behind only Ole Miss.
Walker’s arrival helps offset the losses of Gage Keys and T.J. Lindsey to the portal. His veteran experience will bolster a younger defensive line group next season and contribute to the development of Auburn’s highly-rated defensive line recruits, including five-stars Jared Smith and Malik Autry, as well as four-stars Jourdin Crawford and Antonio Coleman.
