BREAKING: Incoming Yankees star is married to new teammate’s ex girlfriend as MLB trade creates awkward love triangle
Cody Bellinger’s upcoming trade to the Yankees could create an awkward situation in New York, as his wife was previously in a relationship with one of his new teammates.
Reports on Tuesday revealed that the Yankees have acquired Bellinger from the Chicago Cubs. The Cubs will also send $5 million in salary relief, with right-handed reliever Cody Poteet heading to Chicago in return.
This move marks another significant boost for the Yankees, following the New York Mets’ recent victory in securing Juan Soto earlier this month.
However, fans were quick to point out a potentially uncomfortable twist: Bellinger’s wife, Chase Bellinger (formerly Chase Carter), once dated Yankees star Giancarlo Stanton.
Bellinger, 29, and Chase, 27, have been married since December 2023 and began their relationship in the summer of 2020, just over a year after Chase and Stanton ended their romance. Stanton, a five-time All-Star, recently completed his seventh season with the Yankees.
