Deion Sanders pushes controversial claim on NFL teams to draft Shedeur, Travis Hunter
Colorado head coach Deion Sanders is no stranger to bold statements, and his latest might be one of his most compelling yet.
There’s ongoing debate about whether Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders, Deion’s son, will go first overall in the NFL Draft. CBS Sports currently projects Miami QB Cam Ward to claim the top spot, with the Raiders expected to hold the first pick.
But Coach Prime sees things differently. In a recent interview, Sanders confidently stated that Shedeur will not only be the first overall pick but will also land with the New York Giants.
“The Giants are not going to give up that pick,” Sanders asserted. “Shedeur’s going to be the number one pick.”
This bold prediction becomes even more fascinating when considering Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter, whom Sanders considers like family and who also plays for the Buffaloes. Despite Hunter’s elite status, Sanders speculated that the Raiders, with the second pick, might have some decisions to make.
“That’s when the game starts to play… the Raiders could go with Cam [Ward], or there could be some junk in the game and take Trav,” Sanders remarked.
Sanders’ confidence in his players is undeniable, though his prediction raises questions. The Giants securing the top pick would require an extraordinary level of underperformance, making the scenario he outlined even more intriguing.
Regardless of how things unfold, Deion’s unwavering belief in his athletes has captured the attention of the sports world, which will eagerly await the decisions of the Giants, Raiders, and the rest of the draft.
