Stunning Twist: 4-Star Defensive Lineman Shocks Georgia Southern with Decommitment
The second player to leave Georgia Southern in as many weeks, a redshirt junior defensive lineman, has been cut off the team’s football roster. Walker’s departure comes after Dexter Williams II, the backup quarterback, announced his transfer on November 6.
During his four-year tenure with the Eagles, Walker participated in 28 games and recorded 59 total tackles. In 2023, he had a stellar season with six sacks and five forced fumbles, which led the FBS. In the 2022 season, Walker also helped with an interception. Prior to his sudden departure, he had recorded 12 tackles this season.
This weekend, Georgia Southern, who are now 6-4 (4-2 in Sun Belt play), takes on Coastal Carolina. There is currently no indication as to whether Walker departed voluntarily, was fired, or plans to transfer, therefore the reasons for his removal are still unknown. As more information becomes available, updates are anticipated.
