REPORT: Nick Sirianni Sums Up Eagles’ Shocking Loss to Commanders with One Powerful Word
The Philadelphia Eagles’ 10-game winning streak came to a dramatic end on Sunday with a 36-33 loss to the Washington Commanders. Despite holding a 13-point lead heading into the fourth quarter, the Eagles surrendered 22 points in the final 15 minutes, losing on a last-second touchdown with just six seconds remaining.
Now 12-3, the Eagles faced a tough day on multiple fronts. Starting quarterback Jalen Hurts exited early with a concussion, leaving backup Kenny Pickett to step in. Despite solid play from Pickett, the team couldn’t hold on for the win.
Defensively, the Eagles forced five turnovers—a stat that typically secures a victory—but costly mistakes overshadowed their efforts. Head coach Nick Sirianni repeatedly described the performance as “sloppy,” pointing to penalties, miscommunications, and poor fundamentals as key reasons for the loss.
“When you’re sloppy in every aspect, even with forcing turnovers, it’s tough to win against a good team,” Sirianni said. “I told the guys that all of that sloppiness ultimately falls on me as the head coach.”
When the Eagles visit the rival Cowboys on Sunday, they will try to recover.
