Breaking: Colorado QB’s Transfer Portal Decision Sends Shockwaves Through College Football
Since joining the university in 2023, Deion Sanders has brought the Colorado Buffaloes football program back to life. The Buffaloes finished with a 4-8 record in Sanders’ first season at Colorado.
One year later, Colorado is 7-2 in Big 12 play with a 9-3 record and is aiming for its first 10-win season since 2016. Although the Buffaloes’ program has recently had a lot of success, roster changes have also occurred since the first transfer portal window opened on December 9. In early December, Colorado quarterback Walter Taylor declared his plan to use the transfer portal. According to Pete Nakos at On3Sports, he reportedly signed with Ball State on Thursday.
In 2022, Taylor inked his first contract with Vanderbilt. On December 17, 2023, he transferred to Colorado following a season with the Commodores. Now, the six-foot-5 signal-caller will be moving quickly once more, probably in search of a playing opportunity. Taylor was rated as a three-star prospect after high school, ranking as the 93rd best quarterback and the 1,527th best player in the country overall.
Sanders and the Buffaloes will be getting ready for an Alamo Bowl game against the BYU Cougars as they figure out the ins and outs of the transfer portal. At 7:30 p.m. ET on December 28, Colorado will play BYU. According to ESPN BET, the Buffaloes are a 4-point favorite going into the Big 12 game.
