REPORT: Blue Jays To Trade All-Star Infielder To Shocking AL Dodgers Contender
The Toronto Blue Jays have missed out on major free-agent targets Shohei Ohtani and Juan Soto in recent offseasons, but now find themselves holding onto two All-Star infielders, Bo Bichette and Vladimir Guerrero Jr., both of whom are drawing significant trade interest. Of the two, Bichette seems like a more realistic trade candidate. Despite a tough 2024 season, he remains a young, talented player. FanSided’s Christopher Kline recently discussed the possibility of Toronto trading Bichette to the Seattle Mariners, citing a report from The Athletic’s Jim Bowden.
According to Bowden, the Blue Jays could receive two top-10 prospects in exchange for Bichette, with Seattle’s Colt Emerson and Cole Young being potential candidates. This trade could provide a major boost to Toronto’s farm system. The Mariners are reportedly interested in acquiring a “major-league-ready first- or third-base bat,” which could see Bichette shifting to third base in Seattle. While Toronto might prefer to send him to a National League team, moving him out of the division and to the opposite coast could be a sufficient incentive. If Seattle is genuinely willing to part with top prospects like Emerson and Young, the Blue Jays would be wise to consider the offer. Seattle has a track record of aggressive moves in the trade market, often adding talent when they believe they’re in a position to compete. They could pursue this deal while also considering moving starting pitcher Luis Castillo.
