BREAKING: 5-Star WR Announces Transfer Commitment Washington Huskies over Florida
Former Texas Longhorns wide receiver has found a new destination through the NCAA Transfer Portal, and it’s with a familiar rival.
According to On3’s Hayes Fawcett, Cook has committed to the Washington Huskies, choosing the Big Ten program over Florida, which had also pursued him. Notably, the Longhorns were defeated by the Huskies in the 2023 College Football Playoff semi-finals, falling just short of a national championship berth.
The 5-foot-11, 175-pound speedster was initially expected to remain in the SEC and join the Florida Gators. However, at Washington, Cook has the opportunity to emerge as the team’s top receiver.
A five-star recruit in the 2023 class, Cook recorded just eight catches for 137 yards and two touchdowns this season, including three receptions for 35 yards and two scores against UTSA on September 14.
Heading into the 2024 season, Cook was anticipated to play a larger role, but he found himself overshadowed on a depth chart that includes Isaiah Bond, Matthew Golden, DeAndre Moore Jr., Silas Bolden, and standout freshman Ryan Wingo.
Cook, ranked as the No. 31 player nationally, the No. 3 wide receiver, and the No. 5 player in Texas in his class, leaves Texas with 16 receptions for 273 yards and two touchdowns over two seasons. As a transfer, he is ranked as the No. 44 overall player and No. 14 wide receiver in the portal.
