Hernández approached free agency with an open mind, considering offers from multiple teams. Ultimately, the Dodgers took advantage of the opportunity, securing his return with a multi-year contract finalized late Friday.

According to MLB insider Jeff Passan, “Outfielder Teoscar Hernández and the Los Angeles Dodgers have agreed to a three-year, $66 million deal. The contract includes a fourth-year option worth $15 million, over $23 million in deferred money, and a $23 million signing bonus.”

Dodgers set to re-sign outfielder Teoscar Hernández

In classic Dodgers style, the team arranged for Teoscar Hernández to defer about a third of his contract’s total value, reducing its average annual value (AAV). In exchange, they retain one of the unsung heroes of their 2024 World Series championship—a player who crushed 33 home runs, drove in 99 runs during the regular season, posted an impressive .840 OPS, and holds a career OPS of .808.

The 32-year-old Hernández explored options with several teams, including the New York Yankees, according to multiple reports. Ultimately, he chose to return to Los Angeles, where he celebrated a championship just months ago.

With Michael Conforto already added to play left field, the Dodgers have now re-signed their right fielder and are poised for another run at the Fall Classic in 2025. With much of their championship core intact, they remain the favorites, at least on paper, to claim another title next season.
