One of the top dual-threat quarterbacks in the nation has made a pivotal decision regarding his football future. After racking up over 3,500 total yards during the 2024 season, Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback Jalen Milroe had been a highly anticipated prospect, whether staying in Tuscaloosa, entering the transfer portal, or declaring for the NFL Draft. On Thursday afternoon, Milroe announced via social media that he will forgo his senior year and declare for the 2025 NFL Draft, officially closing his chapter at Alabama.

During his two seasons as Alabama’s starting quarterback, Milroe accounted for 45 passing touchdowns and an impressive 33 rushing scores.

He concluded his career with the seventh-most passing yards in program history and became one of only nine Crimson Tide quarterbacks to achieve a completion rate of at least 60%. Across 25 games, Milroe posted a 20-5 record as a starter. However, his Alabama tenure ended on a disappointing note with a 19-13 loss to defending champion Michigan in the ReliaQuest Bowl on New Year’s Eve. Milroe struggled in the game, completing just 50% of his passes while enduring relentless pressure, including five sacks from the Wolverines’ defense.

Milroe’s decision to turn pro may have been influenced by a relatively weaker quarterback draft class. NFL draft expert Mel Kiper Jr. ranks Milroe as the third-best quarterback available. While there are questions about his consistency as a passer, his athleticism and potential could make him an attractive option for a quarterback-needy team in the first round.
