Eagles fan who verbally abused woman in viral video banned from games and fired from job at DEI-focused firm
A Philadelphia Eagles fan who verbally harassed a Green Bay Packers supporter during Sunday’s game has faced swift consequences, including losing his job and being banned from Lincoln Financial Field.
The incident, captured in a viral video posted on X by Alexander Basara, showed the fan, identified as Ryan Caldwell, hurling vulgar insults at Basara’s fiancée. The video, which has amassed over 30 million views, depicted the fan calling her derogatory names and escalating tensions.
Basara noted that he refrained from physical retaliation, citing the hostile environment. “It was a tough situation,” he wrote on X, explaining that the fan was accompanied by two friends, one of whom was his brother.
Caldwell, who worked for BCT Partners, a management consulting firm focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion, was terminated following an internal investigation. In a statement, the company emphasized their commitment to respect and inclusion, condemning Caldwell’s actions while extending support for him as an individual.
The Eagles organization also acted promptly, banning Caldwell from attending future games and apologizing to Basara’s fiancée with a gift of Packers merchandise.
“Eagles once again showing what a class organization they are,” reporter Derrick Gunn noted on X.
Caldwell has not issued a public statement and appears to have deleted his social media accounts.
