After a disappointing 4-8 finish in the 2024 season, Kentucky is turning to the transfer portal in hopes of improving its fortunes in 2025. On Monday, the Wildcats secured a commitment from former Louisiana Tech wide receiver Tru Edwards, who will join the team for his final year of eligibility.

Edwards shined in 2024, delivering a breakout campaign for the Bulldogs. He recorded 84 catches for 986 yards and 8 touchdowns, leading Louisiana Tech in all major receiving categories and earning First-Team All-Conference USA honors. Over three seasons with the Bulldogs, Edwards played in 27 games, amassing 107 receptions for 1,270 yards and 8 touchdowns. He began his collegiate career at Hawaii, where he caught 5 passes for 37 yards as a freshman.

Kentucky offense comes alive in big win vs. Ohio - Southeastern Conference

Kentucky has now brought in 18 players through the transfer portal, including standout wide receiver Kendrick Law from Alabama and defensive lineman David Gusta from Washington State. These additions are critical, especially at receiver, where Kentucky lost five players—Hardley Gilmore IV, Barion Brown, Dane Key, Anthony Brown-Stephens, and Brandon White—this offseason.

Even with those players in 2024, Kentucky’s passing offense ranked just 112th nationally. The Wildcats are banking on Edwards and other new arrivals to rejuvenate their offense and make them competitive again in the SEC.
