The New Orleans Saints are undergoing significant changes heading into 2025, and more could be on the horizon with offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak potentially moving on. Kubiak, a disciple of the Kyle Shanahan coaching tree, joined the Saints in 2024 after leaving the San Francisco 49ers and quickly revitalized the offense. He replaced Pete Carmichael’s scheme with dynamic passing concepts that energized the team early in the season.

Despite a successful debut year in New Orleans, Kubiak’s tenure might be short-lived. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Kubiak is set for a second interview with the Seattle Seahawks for their offensive coordinator vacancy. Nick Underhill of New Orleans Football reported that “momentum is building” for Kubiak to land the role, which could leave the Saints searching for their third offensive coordinator since Derek Carr’s arrival.

Saints Could Lose Klint Kubiak to Seattle Seahawks

Klint Kubiak was a standout name early in the Saints’ 2024 season, leading the team to two dominant opening victories. However, the team’s offensive brilliance faded as the season progressed. Was this due to the league adjusting to Kubiak’s scheme, or were the challenges simply insurmountable given the circumstances? It’s hard to fault any coach for struggling with a porous offensive line, Spencer Rattler at quarterback, and Marquez Valdes-Scantling as the top receiving option.

Injuries also ravaged the Saints last season, making Kubiak’s job even more difficult. While the late-season collapse wasn’t entirely on him, the firing of head coach Dennis Allen and the incoming leadership likely to reshape the coaching staff makes Kubiak’s departure unsurprising.

The Seattle Seahawks offer Kubiak a fresh start in a more stable organization with promising talent. Head coach Mike Macdonald dismissed offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb after just one season, as Grubb’s scheme proved better suited for college football. If Kubiak joins Seattle, he’ll inherit a dynamic offense featuring young stars like D.K. Metcalf and Jaxon Smith-Njigba, a significant upgrade over the Saints’ receiving corps of Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed. While Geno Smith and Derek Carr are comparable quarterbacks, Seattle’s playmakers could provide Kubiak the tools to elevate his offense to new heights.
