Buzz Williams shared a brief update on the status of star guard Wade Taylor on Friday afternoon.

Williams said Texas A&M won’t rush Taylor back into the lineup as he deals with an undisclosed injury. The coach also said there won’t be any vague designations on his status, such as “doubtful” or “questionable.”

“When 4 is healthy, 4 will play,” Williams said.
Taylor has missed 3 consecutive games for the Aggies. A&M managed to win its first game without Taylor in the lineup — a comeback thriller over Oklahoma in Norman. But the Aggies have dropped their last 2 contests in SEC play to Alabama and Kentucky.

It remains unclear whether or not Taylor will be able to suit up on Saturday against LSU. If he’s not able to go, expect Zhuric Phelps to be A&M’s primary offensive creator against the Tigers. Phelps has scored at least 21 points in each of A&M’s last 3 contests without Taylor on the floor.

Even without Taylor, Texas A&M is likely to be favored according to most sports betting apps over LSU on Saturday. KenPom is projecting a final score of 77-65 — which does not account for injuries — in Texas A&M’s favor.
