The New Orleans Saints have expanded their list of coaching candidates following the announcement that Aaron Glenn is heading to the New York Jets. With Glenn reportedly accepting the Jets’ head coaching job, the Saints are reassessing their options and are now one of four teams still searching for a head coach.

Earlier this week, the Saints had four in-person interviews lined up, including Mike Kafka (Giants OC), Anthony Weaver (Dolphins DC), Mike McCarthy, and Aaron Glenn. However, those meetings were delayed due to a winter storm impacting New Orleans and the surrounding areas.

With Glenn no longer in consideration, the Saints have rescheduled the remaining three interviews and added two new candidates to their list: Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Joe Brady and Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore.

Saints hope to have in-person interviews with Joe Brady and Kellen Moore

Both Kellen Moore and Joe Brady have been popular names in this year’s coaching carousel due to their success as offensive coordinators. While both previously had virtual interviews with the Saints, neither was initially reported to be on the shortlist for second, in-person interviews. Now, however, both have been added to the mix.

Since their teams are still competing—Moore’s Eagles in the NFC Championship and Brady’s Bills in the AFC Championship—they won’t be available for in-person interviews until at least next week. This means the Saints’ coaching search is likely to stretch on for a while longer.

Most of the candidates the Saints are considering have offensive backgrounds, with Anthony Weaver being the lone defensive specialist. Mike McCarthy, meanwhile, stands out as the only candidate with prior head coaching experience. His strong track record may make him the current frontrunner for the role. However, with several interviews still on the schedule, one of the younger offensive minds could potentially make a compelling case and emerge as the top choice.
