REPORT: Mets superstar closing in on incredible MLB milestone
Francisco Lindor has hit 248 home runs in his career so far. If he adds 13 more, he will surpass one of the all-time great shortstops next season. As Mets Batflip recently highlighted on X, Lindor is already among the top shortstops in career home runs:
Most career home runs by a shortstop:
- Cal Ripken Jr. (353)
- Alex Rodriguez (345)
- Ernie Banks (298)
- Miguel Tejada (285)
- Derek Jeter (260)
- Francisco Lindor (248)

Lindor is on pace to leapfrog Derek Jeter in 2025
Although Derek Jeter was never known for his power, his consistency and longevity helped him reach 260 career home runs. In contrast, Francisco Lindor has recorded five 30-plus home run seasons in the last eight years, putting him in a strong position to surpass the Yankees legend before the midpoint of the upcoming season—assuming he stays healthy.

Once he moves past Jeter, Lindor would need at least 25 more home runs to overtake Miguel Tejada for fourth place on the all-time shortstop leaderboard. However, reaching that milestone in one season would require 38 total homers—something he has only accomplished once, in 2018.
Looking at the bigger picture, the 31-year-old remains in his prime with several peak years ahead. If he continues averaging 28 home runs per season over the next four years, the former NL MVP runner-up is well on pace to surpass Cal Ripken Jr. as the all-time leader in home runs by a shortstop.
