Another 2026 prospect has added Virginia Tech to his list of official visitors. Linebacker Mathieu Kanu, a standout at Patriot High School in Nokesville, VA, announced today via social media that he will visit the Hokies from June 20th-22nd. Kanu, a 6’3″, 221-pound linebacker, already holds offers from top programs like Penn State, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Indiana, Michigan, North Carolina, Minnesota, South Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia, and is expected to garner even more attention as the recruiting cycle progresses.

Virginia Tech has made a strong start in the 2026 class with the commitment of four-star wide receiver Carnell Warren, who pledged to the Hokies during the Under Armour All-American Bowl. Warren chose Virginia Tech over offers from Duke, Wake Forest, and Georgia Tech, becoming the Hokies’ first commitment for the 2026 class. His addition provides a solid foundation for head coach Brent Pry and his staff as they continue to build the program. Warren is part of a successful recent trend in Virginia Tech’s wide receiver recruiting efforts.

According to the 247Sports Composite, Warren is ranked as the No. 277 player nationally, the No. 44 wide receiver, and the No. 6 player in South Carolina. Scouting director Andrew Ivins compares him to former Miami and current Alabama receiver Isaiah Horton, noting Warren’s impressive athleticism, ability to make contested catches, and his ability to thrive in 50-50 situations due to his athleticism, bounce, and body control. While he excels in the red zone, Warren has also demonstrated the ability to gain significant yardage on screens and quick in-breaking routes. With his 6’4″ frame and ball skills, Warren has the potential to be a game-changer on Saturdays.
