BREAKING: Saints confirms Another ground-breaking news after Finalizing Deal to Hire Kellen Moore As New Head Coach
The New Orleans Saints have officially named Kellen Moore as their next head coach. NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero first reported the news on Tuesday. Moore previously served as the offensive coordinator for the Philadelphia Eagles, who recently defeated the Kansas City Chiefs 40-22 in Super Bowl LIX. Before joining the Eagles, he was the offensive coordinator for the Los Angeles Chargers in the 2023-24 season. Moore started his coaching career with the Dallas Cowboys, working as the quarterbacks coach before being promoted to offensive coordinator from 2018 to 2022.
A former standout quarterback at Boise State from 2007 to 2011, Moore went undrafted but played six seasons as a backup with the Detroit Lions (2012-2014) and Dallas Cowboys (2015-2017) before transitioning into coaching. At 36, he becomes the 12th head coach in Saints history and the 18th to lead the team. When he turns 37 in July, he will be the youngest head coach in franchise history, surpassing J.D. Roberts and Wade Phillips, who were both hired at 38.
The Saints finished the 2024 season with a 5-12 record, missing the playoffs for the fourth straight year. After a 2-7 start, head coach Dennis Allen was fired, and special teams coordinator Darren Rizzi took over for the remainder of the season. Following the season’s conclusion, New Orleans interviewed several candidates, including Rizzi, Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn, Bills offensive coordinator Joe Brady, Giants offensive coordinator Mike Kafka, and Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver. Reports also linked them to former Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy and Washington offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury, though neither was formally interviewed. The Saints were the last of seven teams to fill a head coaching vacancy this offseason, waiting until after the Super Bowl to finalize Moore’s hiring.
Ballon d’Or winner Rodri trains at Ochsner Sports Performance Center during New Orleans visit
Reigning Ballon d’Or winner and Manchester City midfield star Rodri visited the Ochsner Sports Performance Center, home to the New Orleans Saints and Pelicans, while in the Crescent City for Super Bowl LIX.
The 28-year-old Spaniard is recovering from an ACL and meniscus injury sustained in September 2024, which sidelined him for the rest of the 2024-25 season. However, he remains determined to return ahead of schedule and hopes to play again before the season ends. In his last full campaign (2023-24), Rodri played a key role in Manchester City’s fourth straight Premier League title, contributing eight goals and nine assists.
During his visit to New Orleans, he met Saints kicker Blake Grupe, and the two exchanged jerseys. Rodri also made an appearance on Sky Sports’ pregame show ahead of Super Bowl LIX, where he shared his growing interest in American football.
“It’s a sport we try to follow in Europe. For me, especially in recent years, I’ve been following it, so it’s great to be here at such an incredible event that I really admire,” he said.
