The Reds hope to build on their 77-win season in 2024.
The Reds had a productive winter and are hoping to rebound significantly from a disastrous 77-win season in 2024, when they finished fourth in the National League Central Division.

MLB has issued its opening-day lineup and rotation estimates for the Reds.

Lineup Projection

  1. Matt McLain – 2B
  2. Elly De La Cruz, SS
  3. Tyler Stephenson, C
  4. Spencer Steer, 1B
  5. Jeimer Candelario, DH
  6. TJ Friedl, CF
  7. Gavin Lux, 3B
  8. Austin Hays, LF
  9. Jake Fraley, RF

Rotation

  1. Hunter Greene
  2. Brady Singer
  3. Nick Martinez
  4. Nick Lodolo
  5. Rhett Lowder

The two most notable changes are Gavin Lux beginning at third base and Rhett Lowder taking over for Andrew Abbott in the rotation. The Reds have stated that they will try Lux at a variety of spots, including third base, but he has limited experience at the position throughout his career.

Rhett Lowder is currently recovering from an injury and will miss the start of spring training. It would be intriguing to see Lowder receive the nod over Abbott, who is 18-16 with a 3.78 ERA in two major league seasons with the Reds.
