BREAKING: Bills To Re-sign Former All-Pro LB To Boost Super Bowl Odds
The Buffalo Bills have a clear objective this offseason: make the necessary moves to finally break through and win their first Super Bowl.
After trading away star receiver Stefon Diggs last year, questions arose about the offense’s ability to perform without a proven top target. However, Josh Allen quickly put those concerns to rest by earning his first league MVP award in 2024.
Now, a Bills report suggests another unexpected trade could see a key defensive player moved this offseason.
Matt Milano Named One Possible Trade Candidate This Offseason
Bills GM Brandon Beane has done a solid job constructing a competitive roster, but does the team need to make a few more moves to finally overcome Patrick Mahomes and reach the Super Bowl in 2025?

Brandon Ray of BuffaLowDown believes some surprising roster changes could be on the horizon. One potential trade candidate he mentioned is standout linebacker Matt Milano.
“It’s really unfortunate what has happened to Matt Milano over the last two seasons,” Ray wrote. “A season-ending injury in Week 5 of 2023, followed by a torn bicep before the 2024 season that sidelined him until Week 13. He’s struggled to stay healthy, but there’s no denying the impact he’s had since joining the Bills in 2017.”
Ray continued, “Milano has been a key piece of the defense, capable of covering tight ends and playing sideline-to-sideline football. He’s long been a fan favorite, but as with all things, his time in Buffalo may be nearing its end. If not in 2025, then 2026 could be the year Bills fans receive the tough news that Milano is on his way out.”
Milano’s Durability Concerns & Salary Could Be an Issue for the Bills
When healthy, Matt Milano has been a highly productive linebacker for the Bills’ defense. However, injuries have severely limited his availability—he has played in just nine regular-season games over the past two years and only 10 games back in 2020.
While Milano was outstanding in 2021 and 2022—totaling 185 tackles, 4.5 sacks, four fumble recoveries, and three interceptions—his durability is becoming a major concern, especially with his projected $9+ million base salary for the upcoming season. Those concerns are amplified by the fact that he will turn 31 before the season begins.

Fortunately for Buffalo, Terrel Bernard and Dorian Williams stepped up as a solid linebacker duo in Milano’s absence last season. If the Bills believe Williams is ready to take on a full-time starting role, moving on from Milano via trade wouldn’t be unrealistic.
That said, if the Bills are in a Super Bowl-or-bust mindset for 2025, the real question becomes: would trading Milano actually make them a better team?
