BREAKING: Ohio State to Add Former Penn State Player to Coaching Staff
Ohio State is bringing in former Penn State offensive lineman Wendy Laurent as an analyst amid significant changes to its national championship staff. Laurent, who has been coaching in the Ivy League since his playing days at Penn State, is heading to Columbus, according to college football insider Matt Zenitz.
“Ohio State is also expected to hire Wendy Laurent as an analyst, sources tell [CBS Sports] and [247 Sports],” Zenitz reported on Wednesday, Feb. 19, via X. “The former Nittany Lion, who once blocked for Saquon Barkley, has been Dartmouth’s associate head coach and tight ends coach. He also spent time at Penn State as a graduate assistant in 2020 and 2021.”

Additionally, the Buckeyes brought in two former offensive line coaches as analysts on Wednesday: Marcus Johnson, who has coached at Mississippi State, Missouri, and Purdue, and Charlie Dickey, who has experience with Kansas, Oklahoma State, and Utah.
Meanwhile, Penn State lured away former Ohio State defensive coordinator Jim Knowles this offseason, while the Las Vegas Raiders hired former Buckeyes offensive coordinator Chip Kelly. Both departed for significantly higher salaries in 2025.
