BREAKING: Elly De La Cruz’s declaration after 859 feet of home runs in spring debut for Reds
The Cincinnati Reds are gearing up for the 2025 season, and on Saturday, star shortstop Elly De La Cruz made his spring training debut for the team. After hitting two home runs in the game, De La Cruz confidently declared he was ready for the new season.
De La Cruz had just two at-bats in the Reds’ matchup against the Cleveland Guardians, but he made them count. In the first inning, he homered off Triston McKenzie from the left side of the plate, and in the fourth, he hit another one from the right side. With two homers in two at-bats, De La Cruz exuded confidence after the Reds’ 6-3 victory.
“We’re ready to go,” De La Cruz said following his performance. “Left side, right side, it always feels good [to homer].”
Reds hoping Elly De La Cruz can follow up electrifying 2024 campaign

In his first full season in the majors, De La Cruz established himself as one of the game’s most exciting stars. He posted a .259 batting average with 25 home runs, 76 RBIs, and led the league with 67 stolen bases. His impressive performance earned him his first All-Star selection and an eighth-place finish in the National League MVP race.
While De La Cruz’s 218 strikeouts last season were the highest in the league, indicating room for improvement, his ability to hit home runs and make thrilling plays consistently makes the Reds happy with his development. With more than a month until the regular season begins, De La Cruz is already poised to start his third season in the majors.
