While the Los Angeles Rams have several roster decisions to address this offseason, the most important factor is the future of quarterback Matthew Stafford.

Stafford had another standout season, leading the Rams to an NFC West title and nearly pulling off an upset against the Philadelphia Eagles in the playoffs.

At 37 years old, Stafford has made it clear he wants to continue playing. However, his contract doesn’t include any guaranteed money, and he’s set to make only $27 million in 2025, which is significantly lower than what a quarterback of his skill should earn.

The Rams and Stafford were at an impasse in contract talks last offseason, and the situation remained the same as this offseason began. The Rams allowed Stafford to explore his value with other teams before deciding whether to trade him or work out a new deal to keep him in Los Angeles.

Naturally, Stafford attracted considerable interest, as many teams are in need of a franchise quarterback, even one who may only play for a few more years.

In the end, returning to the Rams made the most sense for both sides, and Stafford agreed to a new deal, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

The Rams confirmed Stafford’s return with two tweets.

With Stafford’s future secured, the Rams can now focus on building the rest of their roster and preparing to compete for a Super Bowl in 2025.
