BREAKING: Buffalo Bills Lands Major Deal For Georgia Bulldogs standout safety in latest NFL mock draft
March is here, and with it comes the NFL combine, signaling that the free agency frenzy is just around the corner. Soon after, the NFL Draft will kick off live from Green Bay, Wisconsin. The Buffalo Bills are expected to be somewhat active in free agency, though they still need to address some financial challenges.
While the Bills aren’t likely to be big spenders in free agency, Brandon Beane is known for making moves when the time is right.
Leading up to the NFL Draft, fans will see numerous mock drafts suggesting different directions the Bills could take in selecting their new rookie class. Beane has had his successes in finding hidden gems in later rounds, but his first-round picks have been more hit-or-miss.
Aside from Josh Allen and Greg Rousseau, the Bills haven’t seen much production from their first-round selections under Beane. However, it’s too early to judge tight end Dalton Kincaid after just two years, so he’ll get another season to prove himself.
Currently holding the 30th overall pick, the Bills will have to wait a bit for their first-round selection. The last time they were in this position, they drafted defensive end Greg Rousseau from the University of Miami. So far, it’s been a solid pick, and the Bills believe Rousseau still has room to grow.
Bills get a major steal in latest CBS Sports NFL mock draft
Kyle Stackpole from CBS Sports recently unveiled a new mock draft, taking into account the breaking news that the Los Angeles Rams and quarterback Matthew Stafford have agreed on a new deal to keep him in LA. In this mock, Stackpole places a strong emphasis on former Bills assistant general manager Joe Schoen and the New York Giants trading up from the third overall pick to the first overall pick to select University of Miami quarterback Cam Ward.
While Stackpole has the Giants focused on securing their next potential franchise quarterback, the Buffalo Bills end up with a major steal at No. 30. According to Stackpole’s mock, the Bills land University of Georgia safety Malaki Starks, which would be a huge win for their defense.

“It doesn’t appear that Malaki Starks will fall this far on draft night, but that’s how this mock shook out, which the Bills are thrilled about. The Georgia standout is a do-everything safety who makes the job of his teammates easier.”
Malaki Starks is widely regarded as the best safety in this draft class, and there’s little chance he would fall out of the first round. If this scenario were to unfold, the Buffalo Bills would have an easy decision on their hands, quickly turning in the card with Starks’ name on it. Even though the Bills have Taylor Rapp and Cole Bishop signed for at least the next two seasons, passing on a player like Starks would be nearly impossible.

Starks, a ball-hawking safety for the Georgia Bulldogs, was outstanding during his time at Georgia. He posted a career-high 77 total tackles in 2024 and recorded six career interceptions. As a safety, he also notched 17 pass deflections over his three-year career.
It would be a huge surprise to see Starks fall out of the top portion of the draft, but we’ve seen players slide down boards before. There’s a lot that can happen between now and draft night. While it seems highly unlikely that Starks would end up in Buffalo, in the world of the NFL Draft, you can never rule anything out.
