BREAKING: Garrett Crochet Gives Update On Red Sox Contract Extension Talks
The Boston Red Sox acquired Garrett Crochet as their potential future ace, and now they need to secure him with an extension.
Crochet joined the Red Sox following a major trade with the Chicago White Sox, with two years left under team control. Boston must make a deal that reflects his potential, as he’s one of the most promising young pitchers in the game. Although his experience in this role is limited to just one full season, the results have been impressive.

Given the competitive free-agent market the Red Sox will face after the 2026 season, extending Crochet now makes sense. And Crochet has made his position clear.
“When I was traded here, I immediately wanted this to be the place where I give everything I have,” Crochet said on the “Section 10” podcast. “I want to leave it all out there each time I pitch, not worrying about the long-term effects. That’s just who I am.”

The Red Sox have already discussed an extension with Crochet earlier this winter, and while there have been no significant updates recently, Crochet remains open to the idea.
“It’s got to work for both sides, but I’m excited to have those talks,” Crochet shared.
With the new season starting on March 27 against the Texas Rangers, Crochet seems like the natural choice to be the Opening Day starter.
