LOS ANGELES, California – The NFL offseason often brings a mix of uncertainty and tough decisions as teams shape their rosters for the upcoming year. For Puka Nacua and the Los Angeles Rams, one major question was about the future of quarterback Matthew Stafford, but it looks like the Super Bowl champions will keep their star QB in Southern California.
NFL Insider Adam Schefter reported that Stafford and the Rams have reached a deal to restructure his contract, ensuring he stays with the team. While the specifics of the deal, such as the amount and length, are still unclear, Puka Nacua is thrilled about the news.
After hearing that Stafford would be returning to the Rams, Nacua, who played alongside him at BYU, shared a reaction video from an airport. Even though he had missed his flight back to Salt Lake City, Nacua was all smiles, expressing nothing but positive vibes.
While Rams fans and other players are excited to see Stafford return, Nacua has special reasons to be eager for another season with the quarterback. The two have built strong chemistry over the past two seasons.
Though Nacua was sidelined for a significant portion of last season with a knee injury, limiting him to 11 games, he remained Stafford’s top target, leading the team with 106 catches and 990 receiving yards.
The duo also lit it up during Nacua’s record-breaking rookie season, where he set a new rookie record for receiving yards with 1,486.
Together, Nacua and Stafford have combined for 2,476 receiving yards over the past two seasons, more than 1,000 yards ahead of the next closest Rams receiver.
It looks like fans will get at least a couple more years of one of the NFL’s most productive quarterback-receiver duos.

Before starting his college career, the Provo, Utah native played high school football at Orem High School, setting several state records. After high school, Nacua spent two seasons at the University of Washington before transferring to BYU in 2021. There, he became a standout star for the Cougars.
Nacua wrapped up his BYU career with 91 catches for 1,430 yards and 11 touchdowns, along with 39 carries for 357 yards and five touchdowns.
In April 2023, the Rams selected Nacua with the 177th overall pick in the fifth round of the NFL Draft.
